Quality Technician

This Quality Technician job is with SIGMA in Georgia. It is a full-time position. No pay range is included in the posting.

Ensures Roger Wood Foods customers and FSIS Inspection personal that the product produced here is safe for human consumption.

Specific Duties:

· Follow and enforce all Safety, GMP, SOP, & SSOP procedures

· Perform daily preoperational/operational checks, verifications, and document reviews as required for your assigned area

· Monitor and inspect the plant for condensation, SOPs, SSOPs, and GMPs

· Perform daily facility checks. If damages are observed, a work order must be filled out and turned into the QC Manager. All work orders must be followed up on, with the corrective actions and release dates documented and turned into the QC Manager

· Train in all QC positions and fill in for other QC techs when needed

· Assist with salt and moisture analysis

· Pull samples as requested

· Must maintain regular consistent and professional attendance and punctuality

· “Stretch for Safety” - Stretching is required at the beginning of the shift

· To perform assigned duties the following will occur: Standing on your feet for long periods of time, walking, lifting, climbing, inspecting equipment with a flashlight, and looking down into equipment. Safety rules must always be followed.

· Assist other QC Technicians when requested

· Must conduct yourself in a professional manner, and be able work well with coworkers, management, and third-party auditors

· Other duties as assigned or requested

· Must have reliable transportation

· This role requires frequent exposure to a cold environment, with room temperatures averaging 40°F or lower

Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED with experience in related field preferred in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience and strong commitment to meeting internal customer requirements and continuous improvement objectives preferred.

Language: Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from personnel inside the company.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited direction exists. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or other form.

Other Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, organize, and prioritize workload, excellent internal customer service skills

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. To perform assigned duties the following will occur: Standing on your feet for long periods of time, walking, lifting. The employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and talk/hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a cold, wet environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually below 85 db for a time weighted average of 8 hours.
